DIARY

This main page contains Cloudland Blue : A Diary, with daily entries since 5 March 2005 (scroll down for the latest entries).

As of 5 March 2024, the diary moved into its 20th year.  By then, 6,941 days in, there had been 7,351 entries to date, of which, 148 were "picture only", across five periods:-
2022 (90): 18 April - 10 May (23); 13 - 17 June (5); 6 July - 5 September (62)
2023 (58): 21 September - 15 October (25); 18 October - 19 November (33)

It is always the intention to update those days with the relevant text but doing so is, of course, subject to opportunity (and, indeed, memory!)...

A day with no mums-related obligations...

Of course I slept in...

Tongue-tastic...

Scrambled egg, with just a smidgeon of chili flakes involved...

Scene...

Out and over to Flotterstone for a walk to Glencorse Reservoir...

Lovely...

Although we heard the sound of a Woodpecker, we could not see it - but we did see these geese...

..and these fishermen...

Back to the car...

...and to Penicuik, to visit sister Sheila, Andrew Senior and new recruit to the family, Maisie the dog...

...who is a wee cutie...

Aaaw...

Them to the Navaar House Hotel for a leisurely lunch...

Unpictured shared mushrooms were followed by Macaroni/Lasagne, Diet Irn Bru and a White Wine for the Lady...

...all enjoyed by a roaring wood based fire, providing a wonderful aroma...

To nearby Tesco for shopping...

...and home for some "Monk" and to do my charts for the week - reducing everything down from a weekly Top 100 to a more manageable Top 30...

...and, here, my Top 50 LPs of 2024 so far (average over weeks 1-15 with minimum total points of 40)

Some further music downloading also entertained...

A good day...

Highlight of the Day : No obligations, out and about, lunch and meeting Maisie...

Up and to the machines to try and sort yesterday...

Scenes...

After two hours' work, I had this...

I popped out the MP3s to WeTransfer and notified the guys...

Then, I put them through the mastering software and made them even better and so, reuploaded the final version...

While Anne shopped with her mum, I put all the equipment away...

The salvaged recording soundtracked the drive over to Bonnyrigg for today's mum visit...

The latest TQ magazine had arrived this morning and, as it included the review of my performance in Newcastle back in January, was brought along for mum to read...

...while she listened to the music being described...

Her comments were up to the usual standards of her lifelong encouragement for my endeavours...

"It's awfully repetitive"....

So, I played her the Elvis cover from yesterday, as it might have been more to her taste...

"Oh well, if that's what you like"...

Thanks mum...

Top notch support as ever...

Probably her best line ever, on being told Anne and I were giving up our jobs to open a record shop, was...

"and what are you going to do when it fails"...

Yep, triumph through adversity...

Over the corridor, this was spotted...

Home, thankfully, and some "Monk" and "Almost Paradise" entertained...

In the evening, trawling through the latest acquired edition of The Wire to find possibly good new music (not that I need it)...

...and to bed...

Highlight of the Day : Salvaging the recordings...
