DIARY

This main page contains Cloudland Blue : A Diary, with daily entries since 5 March 2005 (scroll down for the latest entries).

As of 5 March 2024, the diary moved into its 20th year.  By then, 6,941 days in, there had been 7,351 entries to date, of which, 148 were "picture only", across five periods:-
2022 (90): 18 April - 10 May (23); 13 - 17 June (5); 6 July - 5 September (62)
2023 (58): 21 September - 15 October (25); 18 October - 19 November (33)

It is always the intention to update those days with the relevant text but doing so is, of course, subject to opportunity (and, indeed, memory!)...

Up and listening again to the new GLAM! and then the Leith Dockers tapes...

...the latter of which, post breakfast...

...soundtracked the trip over to Paul's to pick him up and then out to Roslin for our final rehearsal pre the wedding on 4th May...

We made our way through the four sets but only playing any songs which any one or more of us reckoned we needed to tighten up or work on...

...which amounted to 25 of the 45...

As a reward for this work, there was cake at the break...

Met up with Anne later at Jane and Bob's -  they were watching the Hearts semi final against Scotland's newest club, said club doing for the JT's 2-0...

Oh well, by way of consolation, here are fave niece Kitty's platform boots...

...and Rafa the Dog...

Tesco/Lidl for tea on the way home, haggis and mash for me, Macaroni Cheese for Anne...

In today's English semi-final, Coventry City came back from 3-0 down at 70 mins against Manchester United at Wembley to make it 3-3 at 90+6 and forced extra time...

They scored a fourth in the dying seconds of said Extra Time only to have it chalked off by VAR for a millimeter measurement offside - and then Man U had their first penalty saved but Coventry subsequently also had one saved and then ballooned one over the bar...

Such is football...

A very good "Astrid", then, to the machines, where I noted, reliability of the laptop is back up again over the last week or so, which is good...

Edited the sessions from today - 3 hours of playing whittled down to 90 minutes of music...

Some discoveries nabbed for the library and then a "Monk" and lights out...

Another good day...

Highlight of the Day : Rehearsing

One again up super early...

...and listening to "GLAM! #2" which went out into the world at 8am, along with Vol 16 of this year's Eclectic Selection podcasts...

It was Record Store Day...

Of course, for people like me, every day is Record Store Day...

Out around 11:30 and dropped by Anne at Roseburn as she went to spend some time with her mum...

I wandered with my "big" headphones on...

...bumping into Paul the Keyboardist on Princes St and enjoyed a wee chat about the band etc...

Then onwards with the wandering...

Through St Andrew Square, noting this development...

Down Broughton St...

...and to Canonmills...

...to the hospice shop, where, in honour of Record Store Day, I bought this wee box of top music...

A bus up to Princes St...

...noting that the part for the printer would arrive soon...

To Roseburn, where Anne and her mum were watching Aberdeen v Celtic...

...which ended 3-3 - in the penalty shoot out, Celtic goalie Hart missed a penalty but subsequently saved one to put them through...

Hearts play Scotland's newest club tomorrow in the other semi-final...

Meanwhile, this was given a spin and found to be excellent and indeed in excellent condition...

The printer part arrived and was successfully installed...

Meanwhile, Anne was doing something she likes...

...gardening and then cooking - Keralan Chicken Curry...

..before I drove over to Winchburgh for an evening in the company of bassist Keith's band, in which he is the drummer...

Here he is singing "Brown Eyed Girl"...

Guitarist Johnny Impossible was also in attendance and we enjoyed some cat chat with Keith's partner, Elaine, who has two 14 year old Maine Coons...

18 monthiversary tomorrow...

The band were much looser than Capital Models and there wasn't too much crossover, song-choice wise...

Late on, the "Diesel" made a return - 0% Guinness and Diet Coke...

John and I left around 10:30, a couple of songs into the 2nd set...

We will be at Roslin tomorrow for 10:30 to set up - Keith will hopefully turn up and plug in his bass around 11...

He may be the worse for wear...

Home...

A "Monk" (the three pies) took us to bedtime...

Highlight of the Day : A nice box set joins the fray and Keith on the drums...
