DIARY

This main page contains Cloudland Blue : A Diary, with daily entries since 5 March 2005 (scroll down for the latest entries).

148 days are "picture only", across 5 periods:-
2022 (90): 18 April - 10 May (23); 13 - 17 June (5); 6 July - 5 September (62)
2023 (58): 21 September - 15 October (25); 18 October - 19 November (33)

It is always the intention to update those days with the relevant text but doing so is, of course, subject to opportunity (and, indeed, memory!)...

Reasonable...

Out next Friday...

Did not sleep in...

And, thankfully unpictured here but recorded for posterity to the hard drives, after breaking my toe, I think, back in February 2023, my toenail finally fell off over night...

Which was most satisfying...

Anyway...

Out to Kirknewton Stables for 11, for a meet with John B from the band, Groom Paul and the owner of the venue for Paul & Tracy's wedding on my 65th birthday a week on Saturday...

Nice...

We will play at the end...

...here...

John stood to provide perspective...

A drive home...

...stopping off for some tasty roadside macaroni on the way, spotting this strangely parked car...

A nice drive in the country all in all...

Home and enjoyed some funky music in the back room and some photographs...

Just before a tasty Mexican meal from the EP, Edward Spark provided a link to the new Pet Shop Boys LP, out tomorrow...

Nice...

...as was the Mexican...

And so, this evening, along with some "Midsomer Murders" and "Monk" (the one with the chimp), some PSB enjoyed - and I created an "Epic" playlist, comprising the longest track from each of their 15 studio albums...

Took a couple of end of the day pics, which feature a blurry, well groomed and healthy looking fox...

...which can be seen as blur here too, heading for the feeding station...

Lights out with Miles Davis and Boris Blank...

Highlight of the Day : Venue visit...

Slept in...

Remixed "Vanilla Receiver", spending an inordinate amount of time having to redo a load of stuff due to taking out the sound of a car horn which has been starting to get on my nerves as I listen back...

It is now gone...

Found, by chance, 30 volumes of music by "stories" which appears to be the laid back version of Scary Pockets - top notch covers with guest musicians..

Selections from across these soundtrack my drive to the hospital...

Mum doing well and good discussions and explanations to her re financial matters and reminiscing by her re her childhood...

This evening, would you want this man on your team...

The Exec Producer answered in the negative due to me being "old, blind and overweight"...

To the hall...

Turned out she was right - we lost by 10 goals - however, I scored one of ours, an extremely rare occurrence these days for the one time recipient of the “Deadliest Finisher” award back when I used to just score for fun every week...

Those young chaps I play with are hopefully enjoying themselves while they can...

I'm just happy I can still occasionally make up the numbers…

Today was apparently Joe Henderson's birthday...

By the time I lined up "Inner Urge" for a late night listen, I'd missed it by 5 minutes...

Very enjoyable though...

Lights out with it in the cans, followed by his later effort, "The Kicker"...

Highlight of the Day : Scoring a goal...

Scenes...

I had an idea for new "Disquietmusik" creations, where in I'd combine pieces from different editions from the series, where the underlying key was the same...

So that passed a couple of hours - with no concrete results...

Post breakfast, trying out three songs for next week's Ouit of the Bedroom, "Callingstill" (1997), "A Nice Job in  Small Town" (1999) and "If I Fall" (2012)...

Not bad...

Post lunch and a "Monk" (cos Prime wouldn't load for "Almost Paradise"), down the hill with Anne to GuitarGuitar for a new set of strings...

Then, with the EP off to do stuff re her mum (hearing appointment), I hit paydirt at the Shelter shop with this quartet - 15 hours of music across 13 CDs, for just £10...

Yowsah!

Bread was also secured...

Home for listening...

...and re-stringing my almost 10 year old guitar - I suspect this is only the second or perhaps third set of strings I've applied to the instrument - which is an absolute shocker of course...

Cleaned up and looking good but some clipping required...

The view from the office this afternoon...

This evening, tagliatelle with prawns and asparagus...

Yum...

The last two (thus far) of "Almost Paradise" leaves another hole...

But "Monk" continues to entertain...

However, the majority of the evening was spent ripping today's new acquisitions...

Lights out with a BlueSky suggested Roy Harper "Lifemask" listen...

Highlight of the Day : New strings...
